Rick Davis

1952 - 2022

Richard L. Davis, age 69, passed away peacefully Saturday March 12, 2022 at his Murrells Inlet residence surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Waco, TX, Mr. Davis was the son of the late Donald L. Davis and Ann C. Davis. A “Jack of All Trades,” Rick enjoyed woodworking, modeling, sailing, motorcycles, mechanical work, and working in the steel industry. He served in the United States Marine Corps for 20 years, serving in Vietnam, and retiring as a Mustang Captain. Rick devoted himself professionally and personally to upholding the Marine Corps core values of Honor, Courage and Commitment in his everyday life. After his retirement, he worked as a mechanical engineer in the steel industry for 19 years. He was in the Retired Officers Association for the joint services of the military. He was a founding member of the Grand Strand Scale Modelers Club and won numerous awards for his modeling skills.

Survivors include his loving wife of 48 years, Sue Davis, his daughter, Jennifer DeValk; son-in-law, Nate DeValk; granddaughter, Logan DeValk; his son, Jeff Davis, daughter-in-law, Bridget Davis; sisters, Sheryl Gula and Pam Norton; brother Doug Davis; nephews and nieces; and other family and friends.

In Rick’s honor, a yearly “Best Marine Corps Subject” award will be presented.
